1.Standards:

A. Physical Properties
Shrinkage:
- Before sewing, production facilities typically apply steam treatment (via steam ironing or hot steam-
spraying machines) to stabilize the zipper’s dimensions. After this process, a slight reduction in zipper
length may occur.

- Some manufacturers also conduct post-wash shrinkage testing to ensure the zipper does not shrink
excessively after laundering, which could affect the product’s appearance during customer use.

- The following table is the standard limits for shrinkage after washing, drying, and steaming:

Colorfastness:
- There are multiple colorfastness requirements, including: Dry rubbing fastness, Wet rubbing fastness,
Wash fastness, Light fastness, Perspiration fastness, Saliva fastness and Color migration resistance
when in contact with plastic-based materials (e.g., PVC, PEVA, etc.)

- Below are the standard colorfastness requirements based on IKEA specifications. Some customers may
have higher or more specific requirements.

B. Non-Magnetic Requirement ( Passes metal detectors)
- Many customers require that zippers do not trigger metal detectors during inspection.

- Detection sensitivity requirements may vary by customer, but common standards include:
√ Detection of 0.8 mm metal contaminants with the detector’s sensitivity set to level 8
√ Detection of 1.0 mm metal contaminants with sensitivity set to level 7
√ Important notes: In some cases, zipper pullers may not pass metal detection, especially when:
◦ Using ring-shaped pullers with a diameter ≥ 17 mm

◦ Using oversized pullers (dimensions ≥ 1 cm x 3 cm, weight ≥ 3 g)
◦ Pullers with black brass or gunmetal finishes are more likely to be detected
compared to other colors.
